COMMON PESTS WE CAN HELP YOU WITH
House Mice
House Mice are highly opportunistic eaters and invaders, consuming a wide range of materials including food, paper, fabric, and even grease particles. Their presence within a building structure can lead to food contamination, property damage, and potential health risks to humans and pets alike.
Bedbugs
Bed bugs are small oval, wingless, blood-feeding insects that are rusty brown in colour. Ranging in length from 1 to 5mm, fully-grown adult bed bugs reach a similar size to that of an apple seed. This small size makes it perfect for them to hide in narrow cracks and crevices.
Fleas
Fleas are small, wingless, external parasites. Brown in colour and oval in shape, fleas range from 2 to 4 mm in length. They have six, spiny legs, with powerful hind legs for jumping. Fleas are so powerful that they are able to jump more than 200 times their body length.
Silverfish
Silverfish are small, agile, fast-running, and wingless insects. They get their name from their silvery-grey colour and fish-like appearance.
Cockroaches
Cockroaches often prefer a sheltered environment with food and water – which, if there is an abundance of, can result in a large cockroach infestation rather quickly. Cockroaches are not fussy eaters and will eat virtually anything available including: animal or vegetable materials, paper, fabric, leather, starches, and grease particles.
Termites
Termites often reside in buildings undetected, but as they are active non-stop day and night. If left undetected, termites can cause serious damage to timber and wooden structures very quickly.
Ants
Contrary to common belief ants are not related to termites, and cannot damage sound timber. Pest ants often nest in and around buildings, mostly congregating in food preparation areas, and can be annoying to occupants while having the potential to spread disease.
Rats
Quick and prolific breeders, rats are able to quickly reproduce. Usually active at night, rats are excellent diggers and swimmers.
European Wasps
Attracted to foodstuffs and drinks, European wasps can interfere with outdoor activities. Unlike a bee, the European wasp can sting repeatedly, especially if its nest is disturbed.
White-tailed Spiders
Found Australia-wide, there are some 60 species of white tail spiders, but the two most common species are Lampona cylindrata and Lampona murina.
