Bed bugs are parasitic insects of the cimicid family that feed exclusively on blood. There are several methods to control bed bugs.
Bed bugs are wingless parasitic insects roughly oval in shape 4-5mm long when fully grown. They are fast runners and are a rust brown colour the changes to a deeper red brown following a blood meal.

Bed bugs shelter in a variety of dark locations, mostly under mattresses, floorboards, carpets, behind skirting boards and within bed frames or other furniture. They venture out at night to feed on humans while they sleep. After feeding, bed bugs move to secluded places and hide for 5-10 days. During this time, they do not feed but instead digest their meal, mate and lay eggs.
